So here is the scoop on my final project!

As you can all tell, unless you are really oblivious all my prints are of hands. I tried to do a huge variety of hands. I did men's hands and female's hands. I did little kids and older kids. I tried to take pictures of people in all sort of different actions. I shot 5 different times. I think that really helped me because I kept getting different kind of pictures. You can tell what I learned as the longer I shot. I had some problems with my white balance in the beginning. My pictures were easier to print as I got my white balance better. I learned alot about what to look for in an image for htis project. I learned not to back light... I really really learned that one! I promise Mr. Slade!! Light is important! I have slowly learned how to use it to my advantage this term. I am getting there! There are things I would have changed in some of these prints, but I feel much better about these then I felt on any prints last year!

Other Final Prints

This is my little cousin. She plays three different instruments, including the piano. She practices all of the time. I love that her hand is in mition. It shows the idea of the image really well.

This is a worker at one of my neighbors houses. He has a sist on his hand. It is causing him a lot of pain and it has become really hard for him to work. But he has to, because he has to pay his bills. I wanted to capture his pain in this picture. The background threw this picture off, but I am learning!

These are my neighbors hands. She is over 90 years old. I love her hands, I think they really tell a story. She fell and broke her hip a couple weeks ago. When that happened her arm was all black and blue. It is already back to normal color. Unfortunately I back lighted every image I took of her, so that really messed me up. But I really want to go back and take more pictures of her hands. This was a good beginning, but I could have gone a lot deeper.

Other Final Prints

This is Emily... Emily I love your nail polish!!! I think it adds a lot to my images!!

This is another one of my cousin. Again he looks like he has working hands. He does a lot of work outside, so it matches. I really like that he is on top of a shovel.

This is another one of my mom and my aunts. I really liked this idea, I was happy how alot of them came out. It is cool how the color of their fists are so similar!

These are my sister's hands. I really like them, they look innocent and young. I think they show my sister's personanlity really well.

This is my aunt's hand. My first memory of her is making me apple sauce when I was really little. I think that makes this picture really special. I also really like the framing of this picture.

Final Prints! (These are the ones I printed!)

This is a stack of my friends hands. I really like it because it shows how different we all really are. Everyone's hands are very different, even though they are all similar. It is so easy to tell the difference of hands.

These hands are my mom's and her two sisters. I really like this idea. They are all similar yet different. There hands have alot of similarities but are still different.

I love love this print. I love the motion. It is cool that you can see through the hands in sectoins. Plus my white balance is white on.. which made it that much better!!

These are more hands of my mom and her sisters. I think this is another really cool idea. I love how they make a circle. This was a very hard image to print. My white balance was slightly off, so it made it really difficult. But I ended up really happy with this print!

The background of this image is great!! You can really focus only on the hands. Yay!
These hands look like work hands, which is good because this is my cousin who works outside all the time. I think it shows his character really well.
I think this is a really funny image. I love the motion of the top hand.

Assignment 7- One shot!

So I thought about this picture a while. I had one shot, and I didn't want to throw it away. I decided to take a picture of a old stump in my yard. I know, that sounds like a snooze fest. But here is the thing, the stump has a story. In one of the big storms we had recently one of the big branches got ripped off. We have to cut the rest of the tree down, because it is dying. I wanted this picture to symboiloze how everything has to die and move on... I am not sure I got there though.

ReTake Portriats!!

So one thing I did last week was to reshoot my portriat assignment. I took them early last week, but with me being sick and all I never uploaded them. I really like how these turned out much better. I liked the idea of hanging upside down, so I used that and went with it. I feel like these are much better, because I had an idea in mind. I knew what I wanted, which helped a lot! Last time I did not really know what I wanted to take pictures of. For my self portriats I used a mask. Katie, I promise I had already decided to do this before I saw your pictures. The cool thing about my mask is that I made it. So it was me being not me, but me being someone I created.. I thought it was pretty cool. My favorite is Natalie hanging upside down with her tongue out. My least favorite is the one of her on the slide. So yea... here you go!

Weekend!!

Ok so I hope you all appreciate what I did this weekend. I shot and shot and shot some more! So I have a lot of things to post for all of you to admire. I just thought I would give you a heads up!

Hands

Here a couple pictures of hands. I don't want to do ones just like this. Put thats the idea...

Final Project

So I have changed my mind like a zillion times, but I think I have finally setteled on a good idea. I am going to photograph people's hands. I am going to show people's hands and their different characters. It should be pretty cool...!

Assignment 6- Portriats

So I had majoir problems with this assignment. I took a lot of pictures this weekend while my family was carving pumpkins. I got some good pictures, but the problem was that I was taking pictures of the activity, not of the person. I tried to take some more pictures last night, and I did better. I was at least taking portriats. I am still not happy with my pictures. I feel like I can do much better, I just didn't have enough time to make it as good as I can. I need to have a couple more models. I also need to come up with a good self portriat idea. I will work on this more this weekend and come up with some stellar ones for next week!

More Abstract

I love how abstract pictures confuse your mind. You are no longer sure what you are looking at. To me this shows a good picture. When you aren't sure what you are looking at it means it is really abstract. These all blend together. It is fun when a picture messes with your mind.

ABSTRACT!

So I enjoy abstract art. It is really cool. I have a lot of fun looking for the image in the picture. These are really cool, because of the way the color is used.

STRESSSING!

So this year has been awful school wise. I am not a big fan of Junior year. These 5 hour nights for entire weeks just isn't good for me. I need sleep.... so no sleep just doesn't go well. I try to be so productive on my weekends, but it just doesn't work out so well. Stress just drives me crazy... I can't handle it. To many things to do, not enough time! Everytime I feel like I am catching up, I get a ton more work. So I thought I would just spend a couple minutes of my class time complaining about my stress. If you I am mean to you this year... know that I have probably had like 4 hours of sleep, so don't take it personally!
So all of you 10th graders don't take super hard classes next year!! You will lose your sanity, trust me! And all of you 10th graders who are stressed out, trust me I understand! You are welcome to complain to me! I will always listen...!
Here are some pictures of what I may be feeling/looking like in the near future.

ANGER!!

I AM VERY ANGRY RIGHT NOW! I should be doing hw, but I couldn't concentrate with all of this anger! I decided to blog about my feelings instead.  Today I opened up the paper, ready to read about how the economy is failing and all of the other bad things happening in the world.  There was one thing that I was not ready to read about though.  American Girl has decided to RETIRE the Samantha doll.  Now I don't think you understand what a blow this is to me! The Samantha doll was the only doll I owned as a kid. I just wasn't a doll person.  But Samantha was different, I had a connection to Samantha.  I always thought she was made after me, I mean come on, same hair color, same eye color, same name!!! But even though I know now that she wasn't she has always been special to me! And then today I hear that American Girl is retiring her.  I just couldn't believe it.  I just don't know what this world is coming to...

LIGHT!!

So this is my light assignment! I loved loved this assignment. I feel like I got some really good shots. Last weekend I went down to southern Utah with the Outdoor Program. I took some awesome pictures while I was down there. It was nice to get somewhere new to shoot. I got to play around with some new subject matter. I love the slot canyons. I had so much fun taking pictures of the fire. I took about 30 of just fire. And it paid off because I got a good one. I took a lot of pictures for this assignment, I took over 120 pictures. It worked out really well for me because a lot of my better pictures were later in my shoot.
I am sure all of you guys wish you had gone on the Outdoor trip, don't worry you can go next time!!

Mary Ellen Mark

Mary Ellen Mark has some intersting pictures. She takes pictures of very different subject, set up in very different ways. One thing that really caught my eye was the pictures she took of celebrities. She took all sorts of pictures of famous people. The thing that really caught my eye was that she took the pictures in all different ways. They were all portriats, but they were done in all different ways.
These pictures are similar in some ways. They are all black and white. They are all at least from the head up. I really like that they are all very different from each other.
I really like the light in the picture of the guy sitting by the window. The light from the window has awesome contrast with the black cloth on the other side.

Stressing...!

So I discovered something today. I have about hit my limit in stress level. I feel like the more I do the more I have to do. I realized that taking pictures gave me a chance to relax. It was an awesome discovery. I have to take the time to go out and take photos. I am required to take a break from sitting stuffed up in my room. I have never enjoyed taking pictures as much as I did for this assignment. It was awesome...! So pretty much this means that photo is my best class because I don't have to sit in my room and hide from the sun!

Assignment 4- Get on your Belly!!!

This assinment was really cool. I took almost all of the pictures on my belly. It was cool that you get such a different point of view. These are pictures of objects that I see all the time but they look completely different in this assignment. I love the light in the fence picture. I think shadow just makes it really cool. I loved the hose as a subject. I think it looks very different from how I normally percieve hoses. I had a hard time taking the pictures for this assignment because i was to stuck in taking pictures the way I was used to. I felt really weird laying on my stomach taking pictures. It took me a while to get used to it, but it got easier the more I shot. As Mr. Slade always says... shoot shoot shoot!!
